WHY BEESWAX?
Beeswax is completely natural and does not give off any harmful chemicals when burned. It has been used for candles for centuries. Beeswax candles burn with a soft glow.
WHY COCONUT OIL?
Beeswax is a very hard wax, and jar candles made with beeswax often have problems with tunneling, when a narrow pool of wax burns down, leaving a ring of wax around the edges of the jar. Adding a small amount of coconut oil makes the candle softer, so that it will burn more evenly. Don’t worry, your candle will still burn for a long time!
WHY WOODEN WICKS?
If you use a wooden wick in your candle, you can be sure there’s no lead in it. Commercial candle wicks often have lead or other substances that you probably don’t want to burn in your home. I use cedar chips for a clean burn.
Wooden wicks also provide a gentle ambiance. The flame flickers and the wick crackles, just like a wood fire.
